Adult Read-In List Curator, Dr. Tiwanna Nevels
Dr. Tiwanna Nevels currently serves as the Assistant State Librarian at the State Library of North Carolina, bringing her over a decade of extensive administrative and managerial experience in library services. Before her current role, she excelled as the Director of Library Services at Saint Augustine’s University. In her leisure moments, Tiwanna indulges in the pleasure of reading, a passion she joyfully extends to the younger members of her community.
Brief History of the Stanford L. Warren Branch Library
Durham Colored Library
Stanford L. Warren Branch Library became the new home of the historic Durham Colored Library on January 17, 1940. Only the second Black library in the state, the Durham Colored Library first opened to the public on August 14, 1916. The branch is named for Dr. Stanford L. Warren, who gave $4,000 during the Great Depression to secure the site for the new building. The library became part of the Durham County Library system when the Black and white library systems merged in 1966. Stanford L. Warren Branch Library is also the home of the Selena Warren Wheeler Collection, formerly known as the Negro Collection. The original 799 volumes with which Dr. Aaron Moore began the Durham Colored Library contained a number of books by and about African Americans and African-American culture. The Collection remains at the Stanford L. Warren Branch Library for all to enjoy. Stanford L. Warren Branch Library has been an important community resource and a gathering place for civic and service organizations throughout its history, especially during the civil rights era.

Youth Read-In List Curator, Danielle Johnson
Danielle Johnson is the Teen Services Manager for Stanford L. Warren Branch Library. Danielle was born and raised in Durham, NC. She started working in libraries at sixteen years old and fell in love with the profession over the years through different library positions. She obtained her MLS in 2019 with a focus on Youth Services. She previously worked as a Children's Librarian before becoming the Teen Services Manager.
Children's Read-In List Curator, Natalia M. Lucena Trujillo
Natalia M. Lucena Trujillo is the Children's Services Manager for Stanford L. Warren Branch Library. She earned her master's degree in library and information science at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus in 2020. She has always loved helping people and learning new things, and she saw the library as a perfect place to combine both. See you in the library! / Te veo en la biblioteca!
