Jeffries Garage was listed in the Green Book as “Jeffrie’s—Blount St.” under “Garages” in Fayetteville from 1947 - 1955. A specific street address was not included in the listing.1

Jeffris Garage, located at 112 Blount Street, was originally owned by Richard D. Jeffries. Jeffries lived with his sister, Elmira, at 115 Blount Street and operated the garage until his death in 1945.2

Walter Mitchell Manuel became the manager of the shop after Jeffries passed away and operated it during the time that it was advertised in the Green Book. Manuel grew up on a farm in Fayetteville and married Annie May Bridges in 1933. He worked as a mechanic for decades; during the early 1940s he worked for Richard Jefferson at Richardson Repair Shop on Russell Street.3

Walter Manuel managed the shop until at least 1963. He passed away in 1985.4
