Jacksons’ Drug Store was listed in the Green Book as “Jackson’s So. James St.” under “Drug Stores” in Goldsboro from 1954-1955.1

Jackson’s Drug Store was owned by pharmacist Osceola Jackson. Jackson first registered as a pharmacist in Tennessee. He registered as a pharmacist in North Carolina in 1930. His drug store, established in the early 1930s, offered prescriptions, drugs, sundries, cosmetics, and fountain service.2

Osceola Jackson was born in 1900 in New Bern, North Carolina. Jackson graduated from the National Training School (now North Carolina Central University) in 1922. He and his wife, Minnie, lived at 407 South George Street. Minnie was a teacher at Dillard High School. Osceola was committed to serving his profession; he was elected as treasurer of the Eastern Carolina Medical, Dental, and Pharmaceutical Society in 1939.3

Osceola Jackson operated the drug store at least through the early 1960s. He passed away in 1978.4
